LILY CHENG
Physiotherapist and Doctor of Chinese Medicine (Acupuncturist)
Lily is the integrative anchor of Above Physio and Acupuncture. She holds a Bachelor of Exercise Science (pre-physiotherapy), Masters of Physiotherapy and a Master of Applied Sciences in Acupuncture, and is one of very few practitioners in Brisbane who brings both disciplines to the same patient in the same session. She is AHPRA registered as both a physiotherapist and a Chinese Medicine practitioner and acupuncturist.
Her clinical training in Dr Tan's Balance Method, Tung acupuncture, and Zhu scalp acupuncture gives her a clinical toolkit that no other physio clinic in south Brisbane can offer. Her physiotherapy background means she understands exactly how acupuncture fits into a complete rehabilitation pathway, not as a complement, but as an essential part of the picture.
When patients hear that Lily is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine, not just a physio who completed a dry needling course, they often say the same thing: I wish I had come here first.
Lily's particular areas of focus are extended Chinese Medicine appointments for musculoskeletal pain, chronic pain, nervous system regulation, pre and post surgical management, and whole-body integrated care. She also continues to see physiotherapy patients, particularly those with complex or long-standing conditions that have not resolved with conventional treatment alone.
Above Physio and Acupuncture was founded by Lily in 2023, built on the belief that the healthcare system's reactive model is failing people, and that a proactive, integrated, team-based approach can change the trajectory of a patient's life. That belief is in everything she does.
